Funding:

Lehigh Township's Regional Traffic Safety Program is funded by a yearly grant from Penn DOT.  In the 2020-2022 grant our program was awarded  $175,594.21 to conduct Checkpoints, Roving Patrols, Cops in Shops and Mobile Awareness Patrols. The grant is also used to conduct Aggressive driving and Occupant Protection roving patrols and traffic enforcement zones as well as pedestrian enforcement. This grant is active from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022.  The grant provides salaries and equipment for the above listed departments.

Lehigh Township Police Department receives an additional grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.  In the 2020-2022 grant Lehigh Township Police was awarded $38,640 to conduct Roving Patrols, Cops in Shops Programs and equipment, which targets underage drinking enforcement and high risk drinking activities.  This grant is utilized within Lehigh Township. 


Lehigh Township’s Regional DUI Enforcement Program consists of 12 collaborating police departments within 17 municipalities within Northampton County. They cover approximately 160 square miles and have approximately 730 state and local roadways.  The municipalities have an approximate population of 91,772.
